This year I’m giving hand made ornaments for Christmas! Corny, I know, but these double as air fresheners! Cinnamon ornaments! I’m a little excited and my kitchen is on cinnamon overload right now.
I have to apologize to anyone still following this blog for the long hiatus. Life just hasn’t left much room for crafting or creative cooking. Having just bought a new house with the hubby, that has changed a bit. Having a house payment has inspired us to live a little more frugally and to keep the Depression era motto “use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without” close to heart. In the spirit of “make do” I was inspired to make these blondies when I found out that you can use bananas as a substitute for either eggs or butter/oil.
‘Darlin it’s hotta unda de wata! Under de sea!’ This year for her birthday my niece decided that she wanted a little mermaid themed cake and party. Auntie loves her nibblets so much that there was no way I could say no when asked to do the cake. Now I just wanted to prove to you guys that I can do more than slop icing on to a cake. 😉
Two my two readers, I must apologize! I am deeply sorry that I missed last month. January was just a crazy month around here. I will do my best to have a make up post this month.
For this month’s post I took on something that may sound ambitious at first, but in reality it is as simple as following any other recipe.
Merry December 26th! I’m still in a giving spirit so here is a little bonus for you that is more of a hack than an actual craft. Spiffing up and reinforcing cheap poster frames with colored duct tape! Continue reading
‘Tis the season! Happy Yule! Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! Whatever you celebrate, where ever you are I hope this time of year finds you exactly where you want to be and with whom you want to spend it!
I saw this a few months ago, and now is the perfect time to try them! These pops can also be made with white chocolate and pink and white sprinkles for Valentine’s Day. Continue reading
As promised, here is the second post for November! I was blessed with a bouncing baby boy, but Auntie still understands that when little girls and their hair are involved, there is never a hair band, clip, or scrunchie when you need one. I decided that this Christmas my girlies needed someplace that their mommies could find hair stuff when needed.
OK, OK! I’m sorry! I missed the October update. But I have two nifty things to show you this month.
First is something I’ve seen gaining steam in the “prepper” world. The second will be a surprise coming before the end of November.
For about the last week I’ve been able to feel a little bit of Autumn’s nip in the air, now for some reason I dislike cold weather, but I LOVE fall. I guess something about nature ‘going to sleep’ in preparation for Spring’s renewal speaks to me. For that reason I tend to make a good many Autumn and Halloween crafts.
This month I went back to one of my previous crafts, so I must apologize for the lack of step-by-step pictures. I will do my best to give an extremely detailed text tutorial.
Some months back I found another craft site much like Pinterest, called Craftgawker. It is like Pinterest in that many craft posts are collected from craft blogs (or food blogs, or design blogs) from around the Internet and you can save them for later. The first day I looked at it I found a picture of platform flip flops. Being a southern girl, I know that flip-flops are essential during summer, so I made a mental note. Once the plain flip-flops came back at work I grabbed a few pairs and got busy. Continue reading
